Eight Ilhan-era terracotta to be presented in Iran
On June 30, the director of the Museum of Glassware and Ceramics of Iran announced that eight terracotta belonging to the Hulaguid era would be presented at the National Museum and the Museum of Glassware and Ceramics of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA. Addressing an IRNA journalist, Hamid Wakilbashi noted that these terracotta date from the 150-year era of the Hulaguid rule. He stressed that five more samples of such works are now stored in the National Museum of Iran and the Museum of Glassware and Ceramics of Iran. According to him, terracotta is also now stored at the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK, which once again indicates the geographical and historical wealth of Iran. An important point in these terracotas is the use of special technology for applying glaze and enamel, Vakilbashi said. Terracotta is a type of faience and is an unglazed or glazed clay-based ceramic.
