Hurricane Laura killed 16 people in two US states

The number of victims of Hurricane Laura, raging in the US states of Louisiana and Texas, has increased to 16 people. This was announced on August 29 by the press service of the Louisiana Health Department on Twitter. According to the press service, two more deaths related to the hurricane were recorded. Killed an 84-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman living in Allen Parish. The reason for their death was carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of improper treatment of an electric generator, which a man and a woman tried to use during a hurricane. In total, ten people died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to improper operation of electric generators in the states of Louisiana and Texas during the hurricane. Five more died in the fall of trees, one person drowned. Earlier, the news agency reported that Hurricane Laura hit the states of Texas and Louisiana on August 27. As a result of the impact of the hurricane, more than 500 thousand consumers were left without energy supply, floods and stormy weather are observed in the affected regions. Currently, the hurricane has weakened to a tropical depression, the wind speed at the epicenter of the elements has decreased from 33 m/s to 17 m/s.
