In the UK, tested a passenger plane with a hydrogen engine

The British company ZeroAvia conducted flight tests of a hydrogen-fueled engine for light passenger aircraft. This was reported by The Daily Telegraph. For testing, the hydrogen engine developed ZeroAvia was installed on the American six-seater Piper Malibu aircraft. During the test flight, the plane made two laps over Bedfordshire airfield. The development of a hydrogen engine was carried out for two and a half years. It was funded by private investors and the British government. The ZeroAvia noted that the main feature of these tests was that the hydrogen engine was first installed on a regular passenger aircraft. ZeroAvia Executive Director Val Miftakhov said that the first hydrogen engines will be suitable for 20-seater aircraft with a flight range of up to 800 km. By 2025, the company expects to develop a more powerful engine that can be equipped with 100-seater airliners. The main advantage of the new engines should be zero pollutant emissions. The ZeroAvia also believes that hydrogen engines will be more reliable, since they use fewer moving components. As previously reported by the news agency, in September, the Mercedes automaker presented a prototype of a GenH2 truck with a hydrogen engine.
